About Us:

The Soldier Pond Library Project’s aim is to raise funds for construction of
a new library at Wallagrass Elementary School...a library that can be used
by the WHOLE community!

When the school was built in 1964 this there was no library.  At some point a storage room was converted into the library.  This tiny room has no outside lighting or ventilation.  At times the temperature reaches eighty degrees.  Because there is not enough room for the all the students some sit on the floor and others sit out in the hallway.  Hands and fingers get stepped on and students often trip over other students' legs.

Last fall, the Stephen & Tabitha King Foundation donated $50,000 -the catalyst for this project.   The Soldier Pond Library Committee has been appealing to other Maine donors, asking them to follow suit by matching the King contribution, however, ANY monetary donation or services you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
